Join us for Spring Leap: The Old Mushroom Farm's Wellness Festival

Spring Leap is The Old Mushroom Farm’s very own wellness festival— planned, and lovingly wrangled into existence by our small but mighty team (powered by our personal desire to attend a festival like this one).

Our lineup practically glows (if we do say so ourselves): yoga under the curved ceiling of a repurposed growing tunnel, foraging walks that turn weeds into wonderment, guided meditations, experiential workshops to foster those mind-body connections, creative sessions, sweaty workouts, juicy tunes, and a few surprises we’re keeping under wraps because mystery is sexy.

It’s a one-day festival, yes—but timed like nature’s opening number (cue the birdsong and blossoms). As spring stirs and stretches, change out of your sweatpants and rediscover your sparkle. Shake off the winter cobwebs, feed your soul, and connect with your people.

Why a wellness festival?

At The Old Mushroom Farm, we love a good celebration—but it gets a bit boring when the main activity is standing around clutching a drink. We wanted something a little more life-affirming. So we idealised a festival where the vibe is less “beer-belly” and more “playtime.” We mostly wanted to get all our friends in one place, and celebrate the things that make us feel good! Credit to ol’ faithful YouTube yogi, Yoga With Adriene, reminding us to “find what feels good”. And yes—“feeling good”  is a nuanced place in every body. We want to move our bodies, be lit up by new ideas, and we want to do it together.

We also happen to be into 20th-century German philosophy (who isn’t?). We like the way Hans-Georg Gadamer described health as a “hidden harmony”—a kind of internal resonance that lets us engage fully with the world. It's not flashy and it doesn't come in a supplement bottle. It's fundamental.

Spring Leap Fest is built around this idea, rooted in a salutogenic approach to wellness—less about what’s wrong with us, and more about what supports us to feel right. It's about empowering positive choices that spirals regeneration to multiple scales: within ourselves, in our personal relationships, among our communities, and beyond. Spring Leap Fest is a vibrant platform designed to nurture this philosophy, creating space where health is actively supported and amplified through our collective participation.

Why a holistic approach?

Sure, having a strong core is nice, but abs alone don’t make a fulfilled life. At Spring Leap Fest, we’re less “no pain, no gain” and more “how’s your nervous system doing, sister?”

We take a big-picture approach to wellbeing. Think less "If I could just fix this one thing..." and more "how do all the parts of my life work together so I can actually enjoy being a human?" Holistic health is about the full human experience: mind, body, spirit, emotions… taking all of it into account. Remembering that we aren’t made up of disconnected parts, but that all these aspects of our lives are interrelated and play off each other in a system.

Our lineup reflects this, Spring Leap isn’t a one-size-fits-all fitness bootcamp. It’s a choose-your-own-adventure day. We learn about journaling for mental clarity, breathwork to calm the nervous system, free dance to feed the soul, foraging to reconnect with the land, yoga to stretch both body and focus the mind, sound journeys for cosmic recalibration, and nourishing food—because honestly, no one’s ‘self-improving’ on an empty stomach.

Basically, Spring Leap Fest is here to help you feel like your most radiant self. Even if your downward dog looks more like a tired walrus. We’re here for it. All of it.

Why Get Together?

Because it’s more fun together! We believe that strong communities are foundational to well-being—not the glossy, individualised kind, but the kind that sustains, supports, and surprises you. And like any good skill or muscle, community takes practice.

Western Modernity has trained us to think of ourselves as lone wolves; self-sufficient, self-optimising, and quietly burnt out. Honestly? That’s a bleak way to live. We’re done with that. Let’s dream bigger. Let’s imagine the kind of lives we want to co-create; with each other, not in spite of each other.

Spring Leap Fest is our gathering ground. A space to move, learn, grow, exchange ideas, share stories, and build the kind of connections that remind us we’re not alone. Because being human is hard—but it’s also hilarious, beautiful, and so much more fun when we do it together.
