We chatted to Sally in her little factory shop at The Old Mushroom Farm, tucked between Exploring Coffee Country Cafe and TOMF Reception. Sally's Midlands Mixes aka For Health Nuts produces the most delicious, healthy granola and treats for an active lifestyle. Their product range is low-carb, gluten free and vegan friendly. Please introduce yourself, introduce your business and describe what it is that you do.
My name is Sally Jackson. I own Sallys _ For Health Nuts. We have a mini-factory at TOMF where we bake various flavours of granola and rolled oats, as well as delicious snacks that are wonderfully tasty AND good for you.
Would you describe your business as artisanal and or ‘indie’ (independent)? Why?
Our business is artisanal, I would say. We create our products from raw ingredients, throw in some love, and then bake it in.
How and when did your business start? And how long have you been at The Old Mushroom Farm?
Sallys started in lockdown – like so many other smaller businesses around the world. It started in my home kitchen in Curry’s Post. We realised we needed to move when the kids started getting really hungry and they were tired of eating nuts 😉 We expanded and moved into TOMF towards the end of 2020.
If your business journey up to this point was a movie title, what would it be?

What is your favourite thing about being at The Old Mushroom Farm?
The vibe. The people. The community. Oh, and the views!
What message would you like to put out there to encourage folks to support small businesses like yours?
Don’t be scared to learn. Don’t be scared to fail. Get back up and try again. Find your uniqueness within your business.
There are always glorious smells of roasting nuts and cinnamon wafting from Sally's oven. We love that while Sally's business has grown extensively (now stocking local supermarkets, cafe's and health shops), she still holds the integrity of her original home made product. Her kitchen continually produces small batch, high quality product made from whole foods and flavoured with natural spices.
